How to find what you love ❤ IKIGAI
Ikigai (生き甲斐) is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". The word refers to having a direction or purpose in life, that which makes one's life worthwhile, and towards which an individual takes spontaneous and willing actions giving them satisfaction and a sense of meaning to life.
Unfortunately, everybody needs to work. In 2017, the average person worked 2,024 hours or about 38.9 hours a week in Korea. It will be a pain in the ass if you are working 2000 hours a year and hating every second of it. The time will feel like forever and quitting will be the number one option in this situation.
But if you are looking at different perspectives, imagine a life that you are thriving to do work and you absolutely love what you are doing as a job. Won't that be an awesome choice?
So, I would ask you these four questions. Think about it deeply and try answering this in a piece of paper or a journal. Try writing as many ideas and jot them down. The more you have, the better chance you will find connections.
🚩IKIGAI: Action Plan
💡 1. Filling out the questions.
Try to fill out as many ideas as possible. Think about the things that you loved to do as a childhood. It doesn’t have to be perfect or professional. It can even be things that you enjoyed. For example, it can eat foods, traveling, bungee jumping. What is encouraged is to try to jot down as much as possible.
A) What do you love?
B) What are you good at?
C) what you can get paid for?
D) what does the world need?
🕸️ 2. Connecting the ideas
Use your own creativity and try to find the linkage between them. For example, I personally loved to play video games, draw and build things. And in the meantime, I loved to go outdoor and do rock-climbing. There seems to be no connection here, but here is the place where the fun part begins. You can craft your own dream that you never thought of. there can be a connection that you never thought of.
To be specific, I can become a product designer in the rock-climbing industry in Patagonia company that pursues sustainability. Another example could be since I love video games, I can design the games and add content that I have learned in the content marketing strategy course. The possibility is limitless. It is your job to create your future
3. Additional tools
I have attached an editable IKIGAII template, so filling them out will be a great exercise to think about the next actions for your career.

In conclusion, I can guarantee one thing. If you sit down and really deeply think about these questions, it will have a huge impact on your life in the long term. But at the same time, this is a very challenging process. We will try to discover the hidden potential of one person and try to design a new lifestyle, that wasn't considered before. So why not try it now? Bring a piece of paper and start designing your life.
My purpose for writing a blog is that I wanted to create awareness by throwing questions at you. It is a simple exercise that will transform your life. I am no expert at this theory but one thing I am sure is that when I put into practice and it has been a valuable experience over time. And that is the main reason why decide to share it with other people. Hope you find it useful. :)
